Templar guide (Global)

The Templar is one of the 8 classes of AION 2 on Global. NC describes the Templar as a sworn defender who holds the line like a fortress behind an unbreakable shield. [Official]

How does the Templar play?

• The only true main tank: holds enemy attention (aggro), pulls and gathers enemies [Community ×7].
• Crowd control, shields and protection for allies [Community ×7].
• Fights with a one-handed Longsword and a shield [Community ×8; weapon name official].

Strengths and weaknesses

Strengths

• Very durable and forgiving; good for beginners [Community ×4].
• Always in demand for dungeons and raids — easy to find groups [Community ×5].
• Mein-MMO rates it S as a PvE tank.

Weaknesses

• Low personal damage, so solo leveling and farming are slow [Community ×5].
• Low kill pressure in 1v1 PvP (AION2 Tier List; KR webzine).

Who should play the Templar?

Players who like to lead the group, read boss mechanics and protect others — and who accept slower solo play.

Beginner tips

1. Learn each boss’s facing: point frontal attacks away from the group.
2. Gather enemies before your party uses AoE.
3. Use your party shield in heavy damage phases.
4. Group up early: your solo damage is low, but groups need you.
5. Fill your Stigma slots as they open (Lv. 22, 27, 32, 37) — see the Stigma guide.

Skills and Stigmas

Pending verification. Full skill lists, Stigma recommendations and numbers (cooldowns, damage) are not yet published by NC for Global. Community guides list core Stigmas for this class, but we publish them only after checking them against official or client data. Global has 4 Stigma slots and a Stigma level cap of 20; KR builds use different rules.

Rotation and macros

Pending verification. We have no verified Templar rotation or macro for Global yet. We will add one when it is confirmed by official data or by two independent Global sources, with the patch it applies to.

• No Templar-specific changes in the Global patches of Oct 7 and Oct 14, 2026.

Global vs KR/TW

• KR webzine notes it is weak 1v1 in the Abyss and pairs well with a Cleric [KR].
• KR/TW run at level cap 50 with the Chapter 1 content; Global Season 1 is capped at 45. KR builds and rankings may not apply to Global.
