Gathering collects raw materials in the world. Crafting turns them into gear, consumables and upgrade items. Both are official NC terms on Global.

What does NC officially confirm?
- The resource skill is called Gathering, with a Gathering Proficiency Level — [Official].

NC has not published the number or names of crafting professions on Global.

The same guide reports 100 proficiency levels per profession (a promotion quest at 50), a 25% “combo” chance on many recipes and a 50,000 Kina skill reset — all [Single source].

What can you craft?
Two sources agree that crafting makes — [Community ×2]:
- weapons, armor and accessories (from Common up to Unique);
- potions, scrolls and food;
- Manastones and Soulstones;
- upgraded “Splendent” results;
- gear that can roll up to 5 Soul Binding lines, one more than usual — see Enhancement.
Beginner tips
- Gather while you level; materials are needed for potions and Manastones later.
- NC texts and our site call the skill Gathering; “Essence Extraction” in other guides means the same thing.

FAQ
Is it Gathering or Essence Extraction in AION 2?
Gathering. NC’s server-transfer notice uses “Gathering Proficiency Level” and “Gathering Skills”. “Essence Extraction” appears only in fan guides.
How many crafting professions are there?
NC has not confirmed the number. One guide (KeenGamer) lists five; we show that list as single-source until a second source or NC confirms it.
Can I sell gathered materials on the Market?
Yes, with limits. Since the Oct 14, 2026 patch, NC restricts Market listings of gathering materials based on gameplay history. Market access also needs a membership.
Is crafted gear worth it?
Two sources say crafted gear can roll more Soul Binding lines than dropped gear (up to 5). Check our Enhancement guide for how Soul Binding works.
