In short
- The biggest ping factor is distance: play in the region nearest to you (Europe, NA West, NA East, Latin America or ASIA in Japan).
- Use a wired connection; Wi-Fi adds jitter and packet loss.
- If everyone on your server lags at once, it is a server issue; check official notices.
- We do not recommend paid ‘ping boosters’ or VPNs; they are not official tools and do not fix server-side lag.
- Server transfers between regions are not possible, so choose your region carefully at the start.
Where are AION 2 servers?
NC lists server locations in North America, South America, Europe and Japan. In the launcher they appear as 5 regions:

Ping grows with physical distance. Choosing a far region for a friend’s server means higher ping for every fight.
Is it my connection or the server?

Check server status when lag starts suddenly.
Safe steps to lower lag
- Use a cable instead of Wi-Fi.
- Stop other traffic: downloads, streams, cloud backups and updates on other devices.
- Restart your router if lag appeared out of nowhere.
- Close the game’s launcher downloads for other games.
- Pick the right region when you create your main character.

About ping boosters and VPNs
Search results for AION 2 lag are full of ads for paid “ping reducers” and VPNs. We do not recommend them:
- they are not official NC tools;
- they cannot fix maintenance, outages or server overload;
- some send your traffic through third-party networks.

Can I move to a closer region later?
Not right now. The October 2026 server transfer allows moves only within the same region and faction. See server transfer.
FAQ
How do I check my ping in AION 2?
We have not verified an in-game ping display for Global. A simple check is to compare lag in towns, open world and instances, and to test your line with your system’s network tools.
Which region has the best ping from Southeast Asia or Australia?
ASIA, whose servers are in Japan. There is no separate SEA or Oceania region.
Can I move my character to a closer region?
Not with the current server transfer: it works only within the same region and faction.
Do ping boosters work for AION 2?
Their advertising is not independent evidence. They cannot fix server-side outages, and some route traffic through third parties. We do not recommend or link them.
Why do I lag only in big fights?
Large Abyss or field boss fights load both the server and your PC. If FPS also drops, it is a performance issue; if FPS stays high, it is network or server load.
