Methodology: how we verify data

Our methodology: which sources we use, when a fact is published, what the status labels mean, how tier lists are built and how player confirmations work.

In short

  • Every fact carries a game version (Global, KR, TW, CN), a patch, a date, a status and its sources.
  • We publish a fact when an official source confirms it, or when at least two independent data or community sources agree.
  • Conflicting data is shown, not hidden: we say who reports what and which value we treat as current, and why.
  • KR/TW data is never presented as Global data without a clear label.
  • Readers can confirm or dispute any fact; five independent confirmations with no disputes give the “Confirmed by players” status.

Aion2help is an independent, unofficial AION 2 fan site. This page explains where our data comes from, when we publish it and how you can tell how reliable a given fact is.

Sources we use

We rank sources by reliability and always prefer the highest level available:

Level Source type Examples
1 Official NC websites, patch notes and notices for Global, KR and TW; official social channels and streams; the game’s Steam page and Steam news
2 Client data Public databases built from the game client; datamine publications
3 Expert communities Large player communities and forums, established guide authors
4 Media and video Gaming media, YouTube, Twitch, Bilibili

Paid or private material (paid guides, closed Discord channels, premium sections of other sites) is never used.

Every page lists its sources at the bottom with links and the date we checked them.

When we publish a fact

  1. Confirmation. A fact is published if a level-1 source confirms it, or if at least two independent level-2 or level-3 sources agree.
  2. Priority. When sources disagree, the higher level wins; at the same level, the newer patch and date wins.
  3. Open disagreements. We do not hide contradictions. When sources disagree, we write “source A says X, source B says Y” and explain which value we treat as current.
  4. Version labels. KR, TW or CN data is never presented as Global data without a clear label. Many systems differ between versions.
  5. No guessing. If we cannot confirm something, we mark it “Not confirmed” or leave it out.
  6. Consistency. Guides are checked against our own database (names, levels, stats). If they don’t match, we hold the page until we fix the mismatch.

What the labels mean

Every page shows a version plaque: the game version it applies to, the patch, the date of the last check and a data status.

Status Meaning
Official source Confirmed by NC (or the regional publisher) in an official notice, patch note or game page
Datamine / client database Taken from client data; may change before or after release
KR/TW data Comes from the Korean or Taiwanese version and may differ on Global
Confirmed by players At least five independent player confirmations and no open disputes
Not confirmed Reported, but not yet confirmed by the sources above

Game names follow the official localization of each version. Where no official name exists yet, we mark our name as unofficial and list the names used in other versions in the glossary.

Tier lists

Our tier list is a meta tier list: we collect public tier lists, convert each one to a common S–D scale and show every source next to the consensus. The consensus tier is the median of all ratings; agreement shows how many sources gave exactly that tier. The editorial verdict and the player vote are shown separately from the consensus. The full source matrix is on the tier list source page.

Player confirmations and error reports

Under every data page you will find I confirm, Incorrect, Found an error? and Translation error? buttons.

  • Reports are grouped by page and fact; the editorial team re-checks the fact against the sources and fixes it.
  • A fact receives the “Confirmed by players” status after five independent confirmations with no disputes.
  • Rate limits and spam filters protect the votes from manipulation.

Updates after patches

After every patch we review the pages affected by the changes and update the version plaque. Each page shows a “Page history” block with dated notes about what changed.
